Meet Our Founder
Sumiye Jarreau-Horton, M.Ed., BCBA, LBA
Founder and Lead Consultant
For more than eighteen years, Sumiye Jarreau-Horton has dedicated her career to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and the people who care for them. Her journey began at The Marcus Autism Center in Atlanta, where she discovered not only a passion for Applied Behavior Analysis but also a deep appreciation for the individuals and families she served.
Throughout her career, Sumiye has worked across a wide range of settings, including early intervention programs, in-home services, clinic settings, severe behavior programs, schools, community-based programs, residential services, employment settings, and adult support services. These experiences have given her a unique understanding of the challenges individuals and support teams face throughout the lifespan.
After becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2017, Sumiye chose to focus her work on adults with IDD, an area she believes deserves greater attention, investment, and lifelong support. In 2021, she founded SJH Behavioral Consulting with a mission to provide the individualized, practical support that adults and their support teams often struggle to find.
Today, she serves clients throughout Northern Virginia while expanding services into West Michigan, where she lives with her husband and their two daughters.
